This page explains, in plain English, what happens with your information when you use cheapascheckin.com.
Who we are
Cheap As Check-In is an independent Australian travel deals site. You can reach us at info@cheapascheckin.com.
Visitor stats
We count visits with GoatCounter, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't give us any personal information. We see totals such as which pages are viewed, which deals and links are tapped, and which place, type and sort options are picked. For searches we only count that a search was used, not what you typed. Like any website, GoatCounter receives standard technical details (such as your IP address and browser type) when it counts a visit. See GoatCounter's privacy policy for how it handles them.
Location
We don't use your IP address to work out where you are or to sort the deals.
The home page has a Use my location button. Only if you tap it does your browser ask your permission to share your location. If you allow it, your position is used only inside your browser, during that visit, to pick the nearest place with deals (within about 400 km). Your coordinates are not sent to us or to GoatCounter, and we don't store them. Our visitor stats only record which place the button picked (for example "Brisbane"), or that permission was declined.
Nothing stored in your browser
Our pages don't set cookies and don't save anything in your browser's storage, so your choices aren't remembered between visits. A place, type or sort you choose is shown in the page address (for example ?t=flights), so you can bookmark or share it.
Affiliate links
The deals and other booking links on this site take you to other companies' websites. Right now those are GetYourGuide, Expedia, TourRadar, Kiwi.com, Airalo, DriveNow, EconomyBookings, GetTransfer, Imoova, Kiwitaxi, Klook, QEEQ, Radical Storage, Viator and Welcome Pickups. Some of these links go through Travelpayouts, an affiliate network, on the way. Most of these are affiliate links: if you book, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Once you click through, you're on their site and their own privacy policy applies. They (and Travelpayouts) may use cookies to record that you came from us.
Email list
Our weekly deals email is not active yet, so we don't collect any email addresses right now.
When it opens, we'll only use your email address to send you the deals email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, and we will never sell your email address. We'll update this page with the email service we use before it starts.
Hosting
The site is hosted with Surge and served through Cloudflare. Like most websites, these services may log technical data such as IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.
Your information
We don't hold personal information about visitors. If you email us, we keep your email to reply. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it removed, email info@cheapascheckin.com.
